ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER · SINCE 1559

Hospitality older than most hotels in Europe.

Over 450 years of tradition, in the heart of the Old Town — just a few steps from the Market Square.

WELCOME TO ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER

Your address within the town walls

In the heart of the Old Town, on Georgengasse, just a few steps from the Market Square, our house has stood since 1559 — and has welcomed guests from all over the world ever since. Stay with us and you are not staying near Rothenburg. You are staying in Rothenburg.

Behind the historic façade you will find both: hand-painted farmhouse furniture in Franconian country-house style and bright, modern bathrooms. We run the house as a family — personally, attentively, and with one ambition: that you feel at home within these walls from the very first moment.

Eight room types, one house

From the Single Room for a night passing through to the Apartment for a longer stay. Every room is furnished in Franconian country-house style, with a modern bathroom and free Wi-Fi — and no two are alike. In a house of this age, that would be hard to avoid.

ABOUT US

A house with history — and a family behind it

Some houses have a history. Ours has several: we have taken in guests since 1559, and for more than 450 years this has been a place of cooking and hospitality. Tiled stoves, Rothenburg paintings from different eras and hand-carved figures after Tilman Riemenschneider tell the story in every room. The house is run personally, and you notice it in the small things — in who greets you at reception, and in how short the distances are: the hotel sits right in the centre, within the town walls.

Franconia on your plate

There is no need to go out for dinner. In separate dining rooms (Stuben) for 2 to 150 guests, we serve fresh Franconian and seasonal cooking — among tiled stoves, old Rothenburg paintings and hand-carved figures. In summer it all moves out onto the summer terrace. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. On every other day we look forward to your reservation — ideally made when you book your room.

Everything on foot — the town begins at your door

Market Square, St Jakob’s Church, Plönlein, the walk along the town walls: in Rothenburg you do not need a car, just good shoes. And once the day visitors have left in the evening, the Old Town is yours. On the map we have marked our favourite places for you.
