What lies outside the door

The hotel stands on Georgengasse, in the middle of the Old Town and within the town walls. Guests here leave the car behind and go on foot: to the Town Hall, to the Plönlein, onto the town walls and into St Jakob’s Church, for whose Holy Blood Altar our hotel’s namesake carved his best-known work.

Market Square and Town Hall
The heart of the town, with the Ratstrinkstube and its mechanical clock.
Plönlein
The small fork in the road with the half-timbered house, the town’s best-known view. Loveliest early in the morning.
Town walls
The covered walkway runs a long way around the Old Town, with views over the rooftops.
St. Jakob
Home to Tilman Riemenschneider’s Holy Blood Altar, carved around 1500.
Burggarten
The view down into the Tauber valley, in the evening with the town behind you.
Tauber valley
Walking and cycling routes just below the town.
View over the red tiled roofs of Rothenburg ob der Tauber to the towers of St Jakob’s Church
Above the rooftops of the Old Town: the towers of St. Jakob.
