Where history becomes hospitality

A house with history. A place to arrive.

In the middle of the historic Old Town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber stands a house that does not merely preserve its history but still lives it today. Guests have been welcomed here since 1559.

Tiled stoves, historic Rothenburg paintings, hand-carved figures and hand-painted furniture in Franconian country style give the house its character. Modern bathrooms, contemporary comfort and attentive service make sure you feel at home from the first moment.

The Old Town begins right outside the door.

What you will find here

Three things that make this house

Double Room with a green farmhouse wardrobe hand-painted with flowers and a painted double bed

Hand-painted farmhouse furniture

The beds and wardrobes in our rooms are painted by hand, with flowers and tendrils in Franconian country style.

A laid table in a dining room in front of a carved winged altar, with a wooden figure on either side

Figures and tiled stoves

Hand-carved figures, historic Rothenburg paintings and tiled stoves are not in a museum here but in our dining rooms. At dinner you sit in the middle of the house’s history.

Banqueting hall with an ornate wooden ceiling, a large wall painting and laid tables

Dining rooms for 2 to 150 guests

Wooden ceilings, wall paintings and carved woodwork: our dining rooms are as varied as the occasions they host, from a table for two to a celebration with 150 guests.

The people in the house

Hospitality with personality

A hotel does not live on its walls alone, but on the people in it. Our team makes sure personally that an overnight stay becomes a stay you remember with pleasure.

Whether you come for a weekend trip, a stopover or a longer stay, the hotel lies centrally within the town walls, so you can reach everything important on foot.

If you want to discover Rothenburg, you should stay in a piece of it.

Tradition you can feel

The man behind the name

Our hotel bears the name of one of the most important artists of the late Middle Ages: the woodcarver Tilman Riemenschneider. The link to Rothenburg’s history can be found in many places throughout our house.

The restaurant in the hotel

In the restaurant you sit in one of our historic dining rooms, and in summer outside on the terrace as well. For family celebrations and groups we reserve a dining room of its own.
